A big actress and film maker!

I want to become a big actress and film maker. And use my skills and talents to be a tool for change.
My name is Lisala. I moved from the Democratic Republic of Congo to Kakuma when I was two years old. My family moved here due to the political unrest in my country. I am 20 now and single. I am in film production. In script writing, acting, camera operating, editing and directing. And in journalism. Living in Kakuma is not easy. I dislike the restrictions and the feeling of being caged. The opportunity to interact with different people and learn new things is a great advantage though. The football matches here are always really happy moments to me. The masses that turn up! You tend to forget whatever you are going through and you interact! Most of the time I am reading novels, writing stories(scripts), planning for shoots, being in the field and setting film shootings. Storytelling gives me a platform to influence and change lives. It keeps me focused to do more for my community. Doing these things makes me live a dream I have.
We, the people from Kakuma, people like you and those you know, we are people who have gone through very many struggles but who still hold on to the hope and conviction that everything will be okay one day. Do not stereotype us because of our status. Before everything else, we welcome you to come and see for yourself and interact with us. And trust me, you are in for the surprise of your lifetime!
